Requirements for Replacements & Amendments
Gather these documents before visiting an OEC office or sending by mail.
CXC Replacements
- Birth certificate or passport
- Defaced or damaged certificate (if applicable)
- International bank draft (US$105.00)
- Local service charge (J$4,560.00) in Jamaican dollars
- Completed request form (signed by Lawyer, Minister of Religion, or Justice of the Peace—not a relative)
CXC Amendments
- Birth certificate
- Original CXC certificate
- Letter of request to Executive Director
- International bank draft (US$30.00)
- Local service charge (J$4,560.00) in Jamaican dollars
GCE Replacements
- Photocopy of birth certificate, driver's license, or passport
- Damaged or defaced certificate (if applicable)
- Local service charge (J$4,560.00)
- Completed request form from OEC website
- Credit or debit card for payment (£64.75)
GCE Amendments
- Service available within 18 months of original certificate issue
- Original certificate must be returned
- Cambridge will not provide amendments beyond 18 months

Important Terms & Conditions
Read these carefully before requesting a replacement or amendment.
Processing & Delivery
Processing Time: 2–3 months from when the examining body receives the request. Excludes weekends and public holidays.
No Expedited Service: All requests follow standard timelines. Plan accordingly.
Reprints: Only provided if original certificate is delayed in the postal system. Reprinted via facsimile to original requesting entity.
Who Can Collect: Certified photocopies accepted in lieu of originals and can be collected on your behalf.
Payment & Policy
Exact Amount Required: Partial payments or overpayments will NOT be accepted. Calculate exact cost and pay precisely.
Bank Drafts Only: CXC requires international bank drafts (US$). GCE accepts credit/debit cards only (no drafts).
Currency: Board fees in USD or GBP. Local service charge in Jamaican Dollars only.
Fee Changes: All fees subject to change without notice. Rates given in requirements are current but may change.
CXC-Specific Terms
Form Signature: Must be signed by Lawyer, Minister of Religion, or Justice of the Peace. Cannot be a relative.
Amended Certificates: Available anytime. No time limit on when you can request corrections.
Certificate Purpose: Replacements are for lost or damaged originals only, not for missing transcripts or additional copies.
GCE-Specific Terms
Amendments Time Window: Only available within 18 months of original certificate issue date. Cambridge will not process amendments beyond this deadline.
Original Return Required: For GCE amendments, the original certificate must be returned to Cambridge. It will not be issued back.
